Home of Hope Orphanage: Come Visit Us!

http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs025/1103326742153/img/3.pngGreetings!
.
Hello and welcome to the new Heartland Missions newsletter! I hope you enjoy this quarterly update on missions around the district. We have an exciting year coming up, with trips to Toronto, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and many other places our individual churches are visiting. Next February we will have our first district trip to Mae Sot, Thailand to visit the Home of Hope orphanage, which is directed by our own district missionaries, Neill and Diana Gilbert (see below for more information). I am excited to see so many people, young and old, experienced and inexperienced, participating in missions! It is my goal that in the years I serve as your missions representative I will see many go on the field for the first time, and I want the Heartland district to be known for our passion for missions!

As I have just returned from convention in Atlanta I continue to be in awe of what God is doing through our churches and Foursquare as a whole. On the Friday morning after convention I had the pleasure of attending  a meeting for all the district missions representatives (DMRs) in which we heard from our Area Missionaries and some of the other missionaries from around the globe. Many times tears came to my eyes as I marveled at the incredible ministry these precious people are participating in to serve the world, people who were really exemplifying our convention theme of the "power of one" throughout the nations:

·        People like Aaron Hunter, a young man moving to Iqueque, Chile with his wife and little toddler son to minister in this port city that very few missionaries ever go to. Considered an "impossible" place, he is defying the hardship and answering the call of God to change this city with the Foursquare gospel message.
·        And have you heard of Gary and Paula Hays? Many of you know they are missionaries to Thailand, but did you know they have seen 10,400 kids saved and 9000 of them are being discipled to become future leaders and world changers?
·        And then there's Jerry Stott...we remember when God used Jerry to bring many churches in Indonesia into the Foursquare family, but did you know that right now he is on a secular TV program that reaches 40-50 million people-and he is the only Christian in the nation allowed to do that! It can only be the miraculous hand of God that would allow such favor for a man in the largest Muslim nation in the entire world.

I could go on and on, but you understand the point I'm sure. God is using FMI to change not just people but nations with the gospel. I am so proud to serve an organization with a heart to serve, equip, and disciple everyone in every nation. "Until the whole world hears," is certainly the cry of our hearts, as I'm sure it is yours.

In light of this incredible ministry, I ask that you continue to support FMI with your prayers, contributions, and resources as the Lord leads.  Thank you for your faithful support, without which we could not do what we are doing! And don't hesitate to contact me with questions, ideas, prayer requests, or anything else I can do for you and your church in regards to missions.

With excitement and anticipation of the worldwide harvest,

Kim Cecil

Heartland Haiti TeamHeartland District Visits Haiti

From the Port au Prince, Haiti base camp: "We were blessed to have with us, this week, a team of twenty people from Madison, Wisconsin and Decatur, Illinois led by Steve Cecil.  Not only were they able to bring with them suitcases of prescription drugs that were greatly needed in our medical clinics, but also a fresh excitement and willingness to serve the people of Haiti. Here in Haiti, we have been busy with construction, working at orphanages, clearing debris from destroyed homes, and setting up temporary shelters. We also distribute food and supplies, and ready the Base Camp for more teams to come to Haiti to minister Relief and Compassion under the direction of National Leader, Pastor Guy Thomas."

Neill and Diana Gilbert, Mae Sot, Thailand
By: Bill Shepson, a Foursquare credentialed minister and freelance writer in Los Angeles

Neill and his wife, Diana, have been serving in Thailand since 2004. They are based in Mae Sot, a major trade hub on the western side of the nation, a gateway known for business dealings on a grand scale, both good and bad. Yes, gems and other items of value exchange hands here-but so do drugs, and people. The city, with a substantial population of refugees, is a den of human trafficking.
